Traveling in International waters will bring another level of requirement such as local maps and such. We can help you provision and explain these further requirements.
How many hours per day does do the captains operate during a vessel delivery?
  • Many captains won’t address this topic because they don’t know what they don’t know. By law and if for hire, a licensed USCG Captain is legally allowed to navigate and must rest for a certain duration, therefore allowing a higher probability of safe passage and mitigating burn out. This is good for deliveries and long passages as well as client charters. This is also why it’s required to have a certain amount of qualified crew on board – consider it added insurance.
  • Unless teaching night navigation, we navigate between dawn to dusk – there are plenty of hours in the day and plus, your vessel needs a break from time to time.
  • In terms of charters and client outings, they range from 4 to 10 hours depending upon the services requested. Please contact us for further options.

What are your thoughts about sourcing the right crew for the job?
  • This is and always has been a certain topic of discussion. We can play devil’s advocate here but will ultimately insist that if Norseman is to provide services, then it is the duty and responsibility of the captain to also source his or her own crew, thereafter, making suggestion to the owner of their recommendations. It is in this way that all parties are covered and protected.
